In October 2003 it was announced that Mark-Paul was 'overjoyed' at the news that he was to become a father. Since then Mark-Paul and his wife Lisa Ann Russell welcomed their first child, a son, MICHAEL CHARLES GOSSELAAR. 

Michael was born prematurely on Saturday 31st January, 2004 at Cedars-Sinai hospital in Los Angeles, California, weighing 5lbs and 1oz. According to Mark-Paul's recent Sharon Osbourne interviews, Michael is doing great and will be looked after by family members and not a nanny.

NYPD Blue's Mark-Paul Gosselaar has been enjoying life with his 6-month-old son, Michael, and wife Lisa Ann Russell – though it wasn't always easy. "He kept us really busy in the beginning," says Gosselaar, 30. "He was a fussy little kid. But now he's mellowed out. He's kind of like, 'Okay, I gave you guys a scare for a second.' He's just a cool little kid now."
